What is Kobo Super Points?

An introduction to wilderness medicine. A comprehensive multiauthored teaching text covering clinical topics and reasoning that are essential to emergency medicine EM. This chapter volume is a succinct introduction to EM. The text is divided into 4 major parts: Part 1 gives an introduction to the specialty and its distinctive approach to clinical care. Part 2 addresses 10 common chief complaints introduced by case descriptions.

Subsections devoted to each complaint address evaluation, differential diagnosis, management, and pathophysiology and conclude with review questions. The third part of the book summarizes emergencies uniquely encountered in EM, including prehospital care, trauma, toxicology, and environmental injuries. Part 4 walks the reader through key procedures in EM with diagrams, photographs, and discussions of complications.

The text is well designed and strategically focused for medical students or residents. The information is current and includes evidence-based recommendations. The text has a narrow audience. Some chapters would benefit from the inclusion of more photographs, diagrams, or figures.

Recommended Readership: Medical students and residents.
