Loose Leaf Verified Purchase. As a Nursing student, you need to take a mandatory Anatomy and physiology course to actively pursue in the study of Nursing. This class being one of the hardest "weed out" classes that Nursing students need to take, we need a book to show what the body does, how it works, and why.

Principles of Anatomy and Physiology 14e binder edition does exactly this. Reading this book has helped me develop an understanding for Human Anatomy and Physiology.

With the in depth explanations of processes the body undergoes, thought out thorough definitions, and diagrams, pictures and tables to make connections to the readings; all have yet to cease to impress me as I continue to read the book.

This binder version is more affordable than the hard copy and comes with the same quality work inside. I recommend getting a 3 inch binder along with the purchase to keep it in great condition throughout the usage of this book. I bought this book when I was halfway through my semester of Anatomy and Physiology 1 because I opted for only the online version of the newer book, due to cost.

Totally worth the money. The book is more or less exactly the same as the newer edition.

Having perused the first volume - "Principles of Anatomy and Physiology: The illustrations and photographs are bountiful, having the appearance of clarity. I'm eager to begin studying! The contents are as follows: Bone Tissue 7 The Skeletal System: Yes, I had read other reviews indicating the same omission, but I was hoping my seller would be that person of integrity who would send both books, as nowhere was it indicated that I was only buying the first of two volumes.

Fortunately, I found the second volume by searching for the textbook's title - and including "volume 2" in the search - and have just now ordered "Principles of Anatomy and Physiology: Maintenance and Continuity of the Human Body".

The chapters in volume two are: The Blood 20 The Cardiovascular System: The Heart 21 The Cardiovascular System: My first impression is that the books will provide excellent reference material. The content of the book is great, it has good explanations, diagrams, etc. However, the book I bought from Amazon is not the complete textbook. Although it includes the table of contents listing all 29 chapters, really it cuts off in the middle of chapter 16 and skips to the Index.

I had no idea I was missing half of the book. Now I am in a bind because I have a test this weekend up until chapter Plus, I will be needing the rest of the chapters for future tests. It didn't say anywhere that the book I was purchasing was only half I would prefer to receive information in a way that starts at a high level, then breaks down that information in a consecutive way, breaking things down more and more until we get to low level information.

This book gives very brief overview of each section, then dives directly to the bottom of the ocean where you're stuck in a completely alien environment, with a whole new language to describe every minute thing you observe. This didn't work for me. I had to get EZ-Anatomy and Physiology to support my need for a high level view, and now I only use the Tortora book for the excellent illustrations and the boxed lists of things to remember.

I won't read it any longer. It just confused the hell out of me and makes me feel like I'm drowning. See all reviews. What other items do customers buy after viewing this item? It is extremely damaged. It's only holding together due to a tape layer on the binding. Some of the pages are glued in the center to the front cover preventing them from being opened.

The cover doesn't fit over the back of the book's pages. Very disappointed. Loose Leaf Verified Purchase. As a Nursing student, you need to take a mandatory Anatomy and physiology course to actively pursue in the study of Nursing.
