It's trusting you did it right that's hard. You sack of sweat stink. I've got farts that smell sweeter than you. Think you're better than me? Poop ice cream cones, do you? Call me a bug! Rachel, let me do him now. I hated the maze of bureaucracy with a passion, but I've found the best way to deal with it is to smile and act stupid.
That way, no one gets confused. It was only a tomato, but one would think I was pulping a decaying heart by the noise the big, strong FIB officers were making. I was a harlot. In this series View all Book 2. Book 3. Book 4. Book 5. I LOVE the cover, turned it over and realized it was the same type of book at my at the time favorite author was. I just grabbed it. I went home and just started reading it by the next day I was hooked. It had to be the first edition since I had to wait for the next one to come out.
I am now proud to say, you have replaced my favorite author title. I am sad its going to be over soon but I sure do enjoy the hollows. Ive recommended your books to several people. They all have loved it. I started reading this book because of the reviews a friend of mine was writing on LiveJournal. It sounded like a fun, interesting read, so I gave it a go. I was wandering around the public library desperately looking for another book to read, when my Mama grabbed a book off the nearest shelf, looked at the cover and thought i liked it.
I started reading t in the car, and fell in love immediately. The only problem i had was that i read the series completely out of order, starting with book 5, and hopping around the series from there. One of my best friends recommended the series to me about a year ago. To this day I wonder what took her so long! I noticed that my soul-sister, Pam, had posted on her FB page that she had recently been to a book signing by Kim Harrison.
So I decided that if Pam is reading these books, they are probably pretty darn good. I was right. I adore the characters in this series, and I got my mother hooked as well. I am just starting Pale Demon and continue to be madly hooked. It sounded great and I was shocked to see it was part of long series that I had never seen! I first found out about the series when a friend of mine dressed up as Rachel for Halloween with her other friend dressed up as Ivy, fangs and all.
I complimented her on the costumes, asked who they were, and got a long, excitable synopsis of the awesomeness that is your series. She has a rule to only ever pick the package deals, and she just thought these sounded cool. The book sat out for a while until there was nothing else to read, I vaguely noted the titles were all twists on old Westerns, and then we were hooked.
It was the perfect gateway for me into the entire Urban Fantasy sub-genre- so thanks for not just a great series, but for opening up a whole new color on the reading rainbow for me! I loved it, passed my love on to my mom. But a friend perusing the store with me told me what an awesome character Rachel was and that I would like her very much. So, that was it. I found the series on book radio, fell in love and read all the books! We love them and it gives us something in common to talk about.
We dream about tee shirts and tv series! My friend loaned me the first three audiobooks. Yay Margarete Gavin! I got into vampire books with Twilight yeah I know smh and Morganville and went from there I searched for vampire books and this was recommended and it sounded so cool with a witch and other paranormal elements. I think I read the first 5 books and you came out with the 6th that year. My favorite series ever since. I was chatting with a former co-worker, Angela, a few years back.
I told her I was in need of a new book series. She knew what kinds of books I enjoy, so she suggested The Hollows. I dont exactly remember how I found this book… I do remember I was looking for a good new read and this book caught my eye and the rest is history. Anyone think these books would be great movies or a television series????? They were sold for a tv show.
Kim had a time frame on them and the film company let them expire and she got her rights back. She did say that us fans would have been unhappy because the show would not include Jenks.
More titles to consider
I guess the CGI would be too expensive, so they were going to eliminate him from the whole thing. So I am glad that they did not make the show because I could never get over losing Jenks.
It fell out of a shelf walmart for me.. Years ago I was at the bookstore just looking. I knew I wanted to leave with a book, but I had no clue what I felt like reading. The cover caught my eye, the book sounded good, and I noticed it was part of a series.
I read it and immediately stalked down the two before it. I have been hooked ever since! I was in Honduras and browsing Amazon and found The Hollows after looking at recommendations. It was recommended to me by my uncle who had bought it for a friend of his with the name Kim Harrison. The joke was she hated vampire books. All except DWW. Well, hmm. But then two or three years ago I met a woman at an author signing in Houston, TX and we discovered that we both live in San Antonio, Tx some three hours away.
Anyway, as we were talking about other series that we enjoy she mentioned that she was a huge fan of the Hollows. When I checked it out online though I initially balked because the series had nine books out at the time. Thank you. I wish I could thank the sales girl for all the wonderful series she led me too, especially yours. I have discovered the world of Fantasy writing over the last year.
This spring I was on a quest to find a new author. I borrow most of my books from the local library and they had your series in e-book, and you had more than 3 books done.
I flew through them all! You take so much care in your writing, in the editing, and the story is fantastic! I have found it hard to find an author that writes intelligently and was a good plot, so I so appreciate the effort you put into your books. Now I am in the process of purchasing all of them!
This is a series I am sure I will re-read many times over the years! Your blog is so much fun! I was searching Borders one day for a new author to get hooked on.
Read the the first few pages and that was pretty much it. What could be better than books about a witch, vampire and a pixy? Throw in some demons, elves and werewolves and well, not much to say after that!! Kim for sharing your wonderful world of the Hollows with me.
I went looking for books and found Rachel and read the book in a day keep in mind I was in hospital bed all day , so I ended up looking for any more and have been hooked from there. Thank you so much for writing such a great story that took a bit of my mind off of what was going on at the time. Rachel, Ivy, Jenks and everyone else became a world away for me. So I finished reading I decided to search more on the author which is you Kim and I saw that you had ten books of the hollow finished I was I need to read them.
I totally became your fan. Thank you for sharing your world with us. It was really, really yellow. Almost neon. Oh, god, my eyes! I forced myself to pluck it from the shelf and read the back. It sounded interesting, but every time I looked at the cover I felt nauseated.
I went home and ordered the US cover online. I was instantly hooked and have been pre-ordering them ever since. Always US covers. I have the whole set in hardcover yes, including A Fistful of Charms! AND paperback. I may owe that cover for all the pleasure The Hollows has brought me over the years! Was browsing my favorite section in the bookstore, very small in our book store,, picked one up read the cover and thought, hmmm beasties AND humour? This could be interesting! Have been hooked ever since and getting many others hooked too.
Was going through some boxes in the garage that were left behind by my mother. Found a handful of books. This one caught my eye. I have been hooked since! Later I asked my mom were she got the book and she never knew she had it… Fate I suppose. Seriously, I read books in about a month.
Got my man hooked on it too. Dead Witch Walking Kindle version was free on Amazon. A few months later, I went back and read the first few chapters and was hooked from then on! I had just finished an awesome series and starred at about a thousand books trying trio find something new. Google cleared it up and grabbed dead witch walking. When I was 13 a friend of mine had seen an advertisement for DWW on some social network and thought it sounded interesting.
As I am the one who buys and reviews the books for my circle of friends I was talked into getting the book. My most vivid memory of this book though is reading it aloud in a small un-airconditioned pension in Istanbul, Turkey with my new husband.
We finished it together on the plane back to his parents house in Germany. My mom recommended it. I love this series and have been nagging my husband to read. The only problem is I only have one copy of each of the books, I may have to buy another. I read Book 1 to 4 in German. Then I waited impatiently for the translation of the 5th book — and started reading the 5th book in English like every following book of the series.
A classmate almost ran me over bc she had her nose in a book.
I mentally added that book to my to buy list purchased it later that day. Been a loyalist ever since lol. Hi Kim, I was introduced to your books by my friend Amberkatze in Austria.
She sent me Dead Witch Walking years ago and I quickly devoured it and the next four. After that, I had to wait patiently for each new book. Thanks for such a wonderful series! I found the first book, when I was walking in the bookstore and the cover stood out. Because in german the covers have an eye with some things in it. On the cover of book one in the eye is a bat, book two a wolf etc. And so I began to love your books. When I finished the last german book you released your next book and I bought it.
So I had the first english version. The title and the cover art got my attention. After this I started reading other series as well as this series. You got me hooked to Urban Fantasy!!!!! Now, I may never get detoxed from it. I had gone back to school and finally finished. After all of those years of study I was looking for some books to keep working my brain. I was telling my daughter who teaches college classes AND works in a bookstore that a lot of the fiction books had such weak female characters and that I was looking for a some serious female leads, and no weirdo vampire books, btw!
She sent me your first 3 books in the mail. I read them in 2 days!! Then I got in my car, raced up to her store and bought the rest. I have re-read them all several times, taking notes. The first book I actually read was A Perfect Blood. I found it at the library, the cover jumped out at me. When I finished the book and discovered it was part of a series the 10th book no less.
Lol I did every thing in my power to get the rest of the series and I have been in love ever since! I have the first four books but have not read them yet. I heard about them on the I Love Vampire Novels website. I would love to be part of the read along since I have heard such great things about your work. I worked at a bookstore when DWW came out. I commented on FB about it, but I want to share it on this page too. That was probably around the time the book first came out. I want to say it was 10 or so years ago.
You are one of our favorites. I got Dead Witch Walking for free on my Kindle around the time you were coming to the Books-a-Million here in Charlotte here in Charlotte for a book signing. I think it was I got into the series by way of my inlaws. They raved about it, especially after i read the 1st chapter of DWW. Thanks for writing it! Every once in a while, I absolutely love to grab a book off the shelf and dive right in without knowing a single thing about it but the title and cover art.
After the bookstore clerk assured me it was the 1st book in a series, who was distracted by hot guy at the time I took it home and jumped in with both feet! I had not one clue about some of the things that were going on! It was like Brimstone! As soon as humanly possible, I went back to the store and grabbed all the rest. Hi Kim! I actually found the series when I noticed my aunt was reading Dead Witch Walking at the cafeteria lunch table.
It was the red hair, the handcuffs, and the charms that were so eye catching. When I asked her opinion of it, she gave a glowing review and offered to let me read it.
I found them when I signed up for a book club. It was recommended in the Vaginal Fantasy book club on Goodreads. I found your book at a CVS in my hometown years ago. That CVS is one of the only stores that we even have in the town. The book is a first edition copy of Dead Witch Walking. I read it in a single day. After that I was a fan for life, and I have read and own every one of your books. I was a little starstruck so I did not say much but it was still an honor to have met you..
I was at Goodwill looking to add to my library and found your book. After Dead Witch Walking I was hooked every week after you would find me at Hastings buying the next book sometimes I would even read the first couple chapters in my car because I couldnt wait till I got home. I worked at Walmart and needed something new to read, I was tired of the run of the mill mysteries, so a friend of mine and I went on lunch and he picked up Dead Witch Walking and suggested it blindly.
I was in love after that. Our local Sunday paper has a page about new books, good books, etc.
White Witch, Black Curse was promoted as a good summer read. I got it from the library, read a couple of chapters, then realized it was part of a series, so I backtracked to DWW and have been an addict ever since. Thank you Sis best words I ever ate! Ready through the first chapter to figure out i had no idea what was going on.
My darling ex husband have me a bag of books he thought I might like to read. The first three were in the bag. My husband brought it home from the library. He knew I liked witches and he liked the cover art. Rachel lingered with me for weeks after I finished it, I had to find the next books to see what happened next. Dead witch walking was on her must read urban fantasy list. I fell in love with Rachel and the rest of the crew especially Jenks shortly after.
My Mother recommended your books to me. She has them all and now so do I but on Audible. I absolutely love listening to your series over and over. On the train, walkng, running, in bed at night as I fall asleep. I have listened to the entire series untold times. Cannot wait for the next adventure! Dead Witch Walking followed me around the bookstores for a few weeks before I actually picked it up. Every time I went to the bookstore, there it was.
And not the same bookstore, different ones.

It always stood out. Finally I gave in and read the back cover, I was 15, and hooked. I was browsing the bargain books section at my local book store and saw For a Few Demons More in hard cover. Never one to start a series in the middle, I went into the stacks and bought Dead Witch Walking. Best impulse buy EVER! I found your first book at my local Library when I was there looking for a good read.
I thought how cool is that so I checked it out and have been hooked for then on. A friend of mine, more like a sister to me, she flipped over this series.
It perked my curiosity, so I bought the first book and like a junkie was hooked. Got up, got dressed, stopped for Starbucks and waited for our bookstore to open… Bought the next three books. Since then, I have invited Morgan and her Interlander clan, into my home for coffee quite a bit.
Intriguing story, love your writing style. I think I read up to black magic sanction in 2 weeks.. I had just got the kindle app for my iPod. I had just got myself hooked on the Sookie Stackhouse books and had finished the latest. I was looking for more series like this. Amazon had sent me an email with free downloads of certain books for the day and saw Dead Witch walking.
I was hooked on the Hollows from there! A good friend of mine recommended the series. I went in search of the first book and have been hooked ever since.
I had a two hour commute to work.
The Hollows 1 - Dead Witch Walking
I love to read and really got into audio books because of commute. So I lived at the used book store and ran across Dead Witch Walking. Loved it!!! Had to immediately get all the audio books, Maugirte Gavin was an amazing narrator. Then had to get all books on kindle so I can read and reread. I recommend to all my book friends. Still listen to audio books on road trips. Well except for the one book not narrarated by Gavin..
My Brother liked the cover, he read it then so did my sister in-law then she thought I might like it. Thankful for that awesome cover! Then, I picked it up again, read it through, looked it up on Amazon to leave a review about how much I loved it and how I wished the author would make it part of a series, just to find out by looking at your Amazon author page that it is.
Thrilled, I bought the whole series 7 main books at the time, including DWW. The Hollows now stands as my all time favorite series. Hello Kim, I was needing a change from my then current genre of Horror. I went to the library and looked at their recommended shelf and Dead Witch Walking caught my eye. The title was catchy and thought this genre might be a good match for me.
Took it home and immediately fell in love with the characters. I read the entire series in no time flat and have remained a fan every since! I think it was about 5 years ago..
One of my Shelfari groups talk about it all the time. I was looking for something new in between reading the Mercy Thompson series. I spend hours looking at shelves in Barnes and Noble and this just stood out.
I read it in a day and a half and as soon as I finished it, I went out and bought the next 3. It has been my favorite series ever since and I recommend it to all my family and friends!
I found the books while I was on vacation. I was looking for something with witches and then I saw it, I think they had it on a table in the center of some aisles. I took a leap of faith and bought the first 3! When I read Fistful of Charms I was in awe. I live in St. I found it during one of my anything but wearwolves phases I think. I found it at Barnes and Noble. I was looking for a kick ass female. Something different and all and along paranormal. The associate pointed me to you. I fell for the cover.
Also the first few pages It was love since then. Loved Trent from the first introduction. I went to a library book sale, not my usual library. I saw a cover that caught my eye, and ended up buying two books for a dollar each. Turns out I actually got four books that day. I found my favorite author that day, totally by chance. The title of the second book caught my eye from the library shelf and then I went back for more. Six months later I sent a second hand paperback copy of Dead Witch Walking to a favored neice, who shared with her sister and several friends.
You are now an important part of our libraries and figure prominently on family Christmas lists. I found my copy at the bookstore in an airport as I was flying to Japan. Thought is looked interesting, been hooked ever since. A friend had it on her bookshelf, I was staying the night, could not sleep went looking for a book and was hooked by the 2nd page.. I too shall reread this series in your good company. Yup time to reread them all. My daughter bought me a Kindle for Christmas 2 years ago.
Once I found our library had ebooks to loan I started looking for books to download. Saw the title and knew I had to read it! Thank you, Louisville Free Public Library, without you I may never have found my favorite book series ever!
I had just joined a book club, and it sounded like a great story. I bought the first 4 books immediately! They have been my favorite series ever since. I belong to a Urban Fantasy group on Shelfari and everyone there kept talking about this book boyfriend Trent and I finally asked who he was and what series he was from. About a month later I had devoured the entire series and was anxiously awaiting the next one with them!
The book just jumped out at me! In the Granville Chapters bookstore. And have been hooked ever since! When the cart came by, Dead Witch Walking was at the top of the heap. It took me out of myself for a few hours of that hellhole.
I love the Hollows series!
